3 steps to a compelling video | guaranteed to increase engagement & enjoyment

Do you ever struggle with making videos and creating Facebook lives and YouTube content? Do you just wish there was something like a three-step formula that could guarantee that you got more engagement, views, shares, and a higher quality, more enjoyable video for your audience?

Do you ever think, “I wish that my audience would just gobble up my content and love my videos as well as share, download them, and even upload them to their own YouTube channel.”?

If that’s you, then what I’m about to share is going to provide incredible value to you.

I’ve used these three steps to create more compelling and engaging videos for quite a while now, and I’ve gotten some incredible results. So I want to share these with you, because they’ve really helped me.

If you go to my YouTube channel, you’ll see that we get a lot of views and shares on each video. If you use vidIQ, the Google Chrome extension which allows you to see how many shares you get on social platforms and YouTube, you’ll notice that a lot of my videos get a ton of shares, and get embedded on a lot of websites.

These three steps are the reason why.

1. Pattern interrupt.

Step one to creating a compelling video is the pattern interrupt. As soon as you shoot a video and you put it out there, you’ve got about 10 seconds to catch their attention and pique their interest enough to where they’re going to watch the rest of the video.

The best way to do this is by asking them a question.

It’s almost impossible for the brain to ignore a question. So if you ask your audience a question that gets them peaked enough to watch the rest of the video, that’s what I’ve found to be the best way to interrupt that pattern in their mind.

2. The payoff.

Step two is the payoff. Think about it like this. We sell the sizzle, not the steak. So in step two, you’re going to paint a picture of what they get from the video. It’s your opportunity to really sell them on the end result of whatever your video is about. It has to be all about them, because no one really cares about your product or what it is that you’re doing.

Have you ever been in a restaurant and you see somebody that is getting their food. You already ordered exactly what you want, and the waiter walks by with this sizzling platter and you almost want to cancel your meal, and say, “I’ll have whatever they’re having.” That’s what I mean by sell the sizzle, not the steak.

Anyone that ever wanted to buy a drill, didn’t want a drill, they want a hole. If I were selling diet pills or weight-loss products, I wouldn’t sell the product and the ingredients, I would sell the idea of that young lady finding her dream man and being on a beach somewhere in a swimsuit six sizes lower than whatever she’s at.

Sell them on the end result.

It has to be all about your audience and what they want. You’re also going to explain why you asked the question in step one.

3. Call to action.

In your call to action, hopefully what you’ve done in step one is piqued their interest so that they watch the rest of your video. Step two, you’ve painted the picture and sold them on the end result. Step three, is going to be your call to action.

It could be opting in your sales funnel, buying your product, becoming your business partner, or just entering their email to get more information. Whatever the case may be, step three means a clear and concise call to action.
