3 ways to stay consistent and win

So you’ve started a new venture, written down a new goal, or picked up a new habit. Everything seems to be going good until one day you wake up and decide to stop. You were so motivated, determined, and energetic in the beginning but now, the momentum is gone.

So what happened here? loss of interest maybe, but most importantly, loss of consistency. Consistency is what is standing between you and the goal you want to achieve. One of the most common reasons behind why people lose motivation/consistency is because we are all hard-wired to stick to our current habits.

how to stay consistent

Our habits which usually have been with us for a very long time, take an even longer time to break. The only antidote to this is to remain consistent. Remaining consistent on days when we don’t necessarily FEEL like it, but getting it done anyways.

Here are three ways for you to push through those difficult days and come out triumphant on the other side. Our fears about what could go wrong can be almost paralyzing. So, it’s important to remember to stay consistent through the fears and doubts–especially as we first get started.

1. Set a schedule

Is your new goal or habit something that can be planned ahead of time? if so, It’s important to keep it scheduled in your calendar so that you do not forget to do it.

We make time for the things that are important to us. Visualize the end goal so that you become motivated enough to set the time aside for your habit. Along with putting it in your calendar, set frequent reminders ahead of time to help mentally prepare you.

We often plan and scehdule ahead of time for everyone else–why not do it for ourselves as well? make it a priority to work on what YOU need to do. This will certainly help you be more consistent.

2. Automate if possible

These days, our schedules are hectic. It’s not surprising that we barely have time to get the things we need done in a timely fashion.

With that said, there is absolutely no shame in automating something when possible. Does your goal require online marketing? that’s something that can easily be planned ahead and scheduled ahead of time.

If you do not have time to automate, hire someone to do it for you. There is always a better and smarter way to work–don’t work harder than you have to. Remaining consistent is way easier when you can plan for it a week ahead of schedule.

3. Join an accountability group

This one is huge and often overlooked. Why not consider joining an accountability group? ideally, each member will have a goal or habit they are also working on and will require the help of everyone in the group.

You can have weekly or bi-weekly meetings to ensure everyone is staying on target with their goal(s). This is an excellent way to make sure you are staying on your A game. It will help keep you motivated and on your toes at all times.

Don’t know where to join an accountability group? start your own. Select from 3 or 4 of your closest friends or colleagues and reach out to them with the idea. You’ll be surprised how many people positively respond to this. After all, it seems like everyone could use an accountability partner or partner these days.

Just make sure the people who join are committed to remaining consistent as well.

Life is a series of choices and consequences. Sometimes you won’t know whether something is going to work or not until you actually go for it. Never be afraid to create new habits or start new business ventures because of the time it will take to get there–the time will pass anyway.

Keep going. Consistency is about doing things no matter how easy or hard they are. Once a new habit has been ingrained in your mind, it will become a part of who you are. That is where you want to be.
