3 ways your posture can impact your success

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to attract success every where they go while others struggle to make ends meet? There isn’t always a one-size fits all formula but one thing that seems to stand out each time–someone’s posture.

Your body posture introduces you before you’ve even uttered a single word. It’s in the way you carry yourself, the way you sit, stand, even in the way you walk.

You posture has the ability to make you feel strong and confident, or weak and depressed. Wouldn’t you like to learn how you can increase your likelihood of achieving success simply by changing the way you carry yourself physically? I know I would!

Here are 3 ways that your posture can have a direct impact on your success:

1. Posture tells people who you are

Whether you realize it or not, when you’re in a room full of people you don’t know, are likely judging your character based on your posture.

A closed off posture (arms crossed, stern look) for example may lead people to believe that you aren’t very approachable leading them to stay away.

In contrast, your posture could also indicate that you are open and friendly simply by making eye contact with others and maintaining a smile on your face.

2. Your posture increases your efficiency

If you’re always slouching in your seat, or sitting in positions which put a strain on your muscles, you might not be working to your true potential.

Try sitting upright when you’re working at the computer or, avoid straining your neck by looking down at your phone for hours at a time.

Simply making these changes can help you become more productive, relaxed, and efficient in your daily work. Not to mention, when you look good, you feel good and our posture has a direct impact!

3. Your posture can make you feel empowered

The way we carry ourselves physically can have a direct impact on our confidence levels. When we hold our head up and shoulders back, it can help boost our confidence and make us feel good about ourselves.

Several studies indicate that those who sit up straight tend to have more confidence in their abilities than someone who is slouched.

Begin paying attention to how you’re carrying yourself on a daily basis. Smile more, make eye contact, and walk with your shoulders back and chest out–you’ll be surprised at what an impact it will have on your self-confidence!

Tips on practicing and maintaining good posture

Begin to become mindful about how you are standing or sitting. Try to purchase equipment such as a mouse pad or keyboard that is ergonomically designed.

When out in public, make it a habit to smile more often, walk upright, and look people in the eye when talking to them.

Your posture is constantly sending out messages about who you are–make it a good one!
